FAME Kicks Off The Merry Season

November 29th, 2011 · No Comments

On a hot, sweltering day, the Filipino Australian Movement for Empowerment (FAME) kicked off the merry season with their Christmas party at Quakers Hill Community Hall last Sunday, 27 November.

With a smorgasboard of dishes and an abundance of desserts to tempt anyone on a diet, the spirit of Christmas could truly be felt.  Executive Director, Ferdie Francisco welcomed members, friends and guests which included Cr. Jackie Donaldson and Allan Green.  As one guest said, “Ang saya pala ng Fame party. It’s cozy and you really feel welcome.”

It was beginning to look like Christmas as the crowd dressed in reds and greens and Santa’s hats happily mingled and table-hopped to catch up with friends for a chat.  There were games to be played and songs to be sang as organised by committee chair, Dennis Laxamana had planned. “No one shied away.  They all joined in and there was lots of laughter all around” said one of the Fame directors.

FAME is now on its third year and is all about the empowerment of Filipinos in Australia and raising the image of Filipinos.  With Ferdie Francisco’s hard work and determination along with his 2011 Board, FAME has now established three other chapters in the surrounding areas of Doonside, Quakers Hill and Marayong.
