September 28th, 2014 · No Comments

IsseiGuarin5Isabella Guarin has been chosen to do the honours of singing the Philippine National Anthem for the Philippine National Rugby League at the International Rugby League Festival at Ringrose Park, Wentworthville Leagues Club on Saturday, 4th October.

Issei, as she is fondly called, will be heard not once, but twice.  It’ll be a double treat as she sings the anthem for the Under 23s match between Philippines and Thailand at 2pm; and then before the Philippine Tamaraws vs. Niue game at 4:30pm.

Issei, as she is fondly called, is only 14 years of age but already, she has exhibited remarkable musical talents way beyond her age.  She has stepped on stage for the front acts for Philippines’ big name stars who have visited Sydney shores like:  Rico J, Sherine Regis, Renz Verano, Juan Rodrigo, Jim Paredes, Kuh Ledesma, Willie Nepomuceno and Carol Banawa.

In addition to her superb vocals she also plays the piano, guitar and ukulele and takes drama to polish her stage presence.

She’s undoubtedly  “gifted and talented” and also excels academically, taking the number one spot for Information Software Technology; ranks in the top 10 for Maths and Science;  and stands out in Creative Writing, English and visual Arts.

Issei has only just begun but she definitely has a long way to go.  And on Saturday, 4th October, she’ll be beaming with pride at the grandstand, as she belts out the Philippine National Anthem to cheer the Philippine Tamaraws on to victory.

Gates open at 12 noon and the Opening ceremony kicks off at 1pm.  The day’s events will also include cultural presentations; food stalls laden with native dishes courtesy of Aguman Capampangan, PLCAA and  the other participating nations; plus lots of activities for children.  The Filipino Australian Movement for Empowerment (FAME) and the Philippine Community Council for NSW will also be participating in the event.
